Long story here but bottom line is DO NOT choose Electrum to help you with any "home electrification" projects or any other projects for that matter. Unfortunately, we got on board with Electrum for our solar project in 2022, believing that they were the most trustworthy folks in the business given the SCE association. Electrum proceeded to put us into a high-risk contract where ultimately the contractor bailed leaving us high and dry after taking 80% of out money. Electrum, even though they claim their contractors are "vetted" and they were with us every step of the way (their salesperson's name is also on the contract), is completely denying any responsibility in the matter.

Also be aware that they are very responsive (and seem like good people), until they get your money. After our contract was signed, they became difficult to reach via e-mail and impossible to reach over phone. Any phone number you call will go to a cell phone, and they do not answer them. The recording for the voicemail is generic with no company name. No caller ID, ever. In hundreds of attempts, not once has a body answered a phone. They also don't RETURN any calls when voicemails are left. Sketchy, right?

Don't deal with Electrum, period.

The solar panel installation was just OK. But no one cautioned me about the time length to complete the whole project. Two guys were able to install the solar panels plus all the accessory equipment and connections in less than 4 hours. However, the time it took after my installer selection to sign-off by PG&E was closed to six months!!
I selected the installer in June, 2022. I waited for weeks before the installer sent someone to take a detailed look of the house (before that every company just use Google Earth for the price estimate). I waited for some more weeks for the company to generate the engineering drawings which I approved the very next day. I waited a lot more weeks for the installation team that finished the work in less than 4 hours. Then I waited for months for the City inspection. Because the installers missed the grounding requirement, the City inspector has to come for the second time. After a few more days, PG&E gave the approval. That was in December, 2022.
After the solar panel installation, another team came to my house after a few more weeks to connect the solar panels to my electrical panel. Because the team did not reset the electrical panel circuit breakers properly before leaving, later when I came home, half of the house was without power.

I used Electrum as a 3rd party for handling my solar project. JD was my assigned representative, and he was great! Not only did all my solar questions finally get answered but everything was clear and straight forward. The folks that come by my neighborhood door to door offering solar could never answer those questions before. Loved my experience and would recommend it to anyone. The company whos bid we chose was perfect and really easy to communicate with

Joseph Hunt with Pick My Solar is awesome. He helped us work through an upgrade to a solar system that we ended up not upgrading and then after moving helped us install a system on our new home. The Pick My Solar team is very knowledgeable and efficient. They are quick to respond and even better, at the times I could manage. Their information intake, bidding platform and overall business model provides a reliable and trustworthy service to those interested in going solar. Pick My Solar is one of the best companies I've ever had the pleasure of working with.

I was very pleased with the Pick My Solar crew, specifically Rex. The information provided by Pick My Solar was instrumental in my decision with which contractor to use. Pick My Solar saved me a lot of time and hassle having to deal with different contractors/sales people. They were friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to explain about solar systems in easy to understand terms. I have no regrets in my decision to go with solar and I highly recommend Pick My Solar to all my friends.

I worked with Madeline - she was great. I would recommend anyone seriously considering going solar, and who is ready to receive bids to start with Pick My Solar. (Ultimately I did not select a Pick My Solar offer to me - but their process is the most helpful and easiest to deal with, of all the research/work I did on my own).

Pick My Solar is a very good site. They are middlemen yes, and will make a profit from you (and the install company) if you go through them. But if you want a one-stop place that can handle it all for you and who will work on your side and get you several good offers to compare/select: Pick My Solar is for you. I liked them very much: they are knowledgeable and have good connections. They will get you good offers, BUT if you use them as a starting point, you should be able to get a BEST offer yourself (that they will then price match anyway - or at least come sorta close).

So start with Pick My Solar. Have them get several bids for you - as they ask questions about your needs be honest with them. They really are good listeners and want you to get the best system they can design. And as I say above, if you are not a hands on consumer or in a hurry or not wanting to be bothered with details that you have to wade through, Pick My Solar will take that worry out of the equation - and do very well for you.

Here is where Pick My Solar and I went separate ways on my solar system: once I got several bids from Pick My Solar (they will show you three), I contacted the best solar installers in my area (do googles search and find 5 companies that consistently get 5 star reviews in your area. Call each of them and talk to them - they will each have on staff salespeople. Have them draw up proposals for you. Once you have those proposals in hand, compare them to the Pick My Solar bids. And then tell one or two of those companies, that "hey, look, Pick My Solar did this design for this (X) price..if you can give me the same wattage and basically match their design/system for 10-15% less, I will sign a contract with you." Those companies will come down in price I guarantee it (so long as you seem serious about purchasing a system). Once you have that company's final bid, ask Pick My Solar to match it: you will find that their three final best offers which they told you were their final best offers - were not indeed their best! They will match (almost...close but not quite) the direct offers you received from each company (but from a different installer - one they often work with locally). So yes you are using Pick My Solar against the best companies in your area, and then the local offers to get Pick My Solar to price match...If you are uncomfortable negotiating like this - don't do it. But you should know that each of these companies will try and get $2,000-3,000 (at least) from you, that you could get them to come down on if you play one off against the other. Why should they get your money and not you?

The whole process was well presented. Pick My Solar designed the solar panel system we needed for Swiss Family Farmhouse with installation on our barn. They made sure that the three bids we received were on the same design and materials. They had vetted the contractors and we were extremely pleased with the bid and installer we picked. Pick My Solar helped us get the information needed for our federal tax rebate, a Dept. of Agriculture grant that our farm qualified for, and helped us understand the payback from our power company. My husband is very analytical, and the Pick My Solar reps always welcomed any questions we had and fully explained all the details. They were communicative and responsive.

We hooked up on Dec. 23, 2016. And in February 2017 our electric bill was reduced by 53%! We were amazed! It was one of the rainiest, hence cloudiest, Februaries on record in the Pacific Northwest! March had a 56% reduction, THEN the next 6 months our bill has been reduced by over 90% every month!

We signed the contract with complete confidence and love to recommend Pick My Solar to everyone!
