I absolutely love this shop! As a fellow refillery owner, I want to take a moment to dispel any misconceptions about pricing—this store’s prices are absolutely in line with industry standards and are right on par with my own. Ethical, high-quality products cost what they cost because they’re made responsibly and fairly. That’s not just business—it’s building a better world, one refill at a time. Keep doing what you’re doing, because what you’re doing is awesome, necessary, and making a real difference!

I used to frequent the ninth street location before it closed, now I go to the one on university place. I have to say, stopping by A Sustainable Village feels less like running an errand and more like the highlight of my day. Aesthetically the store is calm, organized, and just extremely pleasant. The owner and employees are passionate and warm people. The products are fantastic—and it’s not just your average zero waste hand soap refills…it’s also little niche sustainable swaps that I didn’t even know existed! Like biodegradable toothbrush heads for my electric toothbrush, or a reusable washable q-tip with these perfect little bumps for the part in your ear that really tickles! And yes, initially the prices can seem high—but when I fill up my shampoo and conditioner bottles all the way, it’s about $35 each, which is the same I’d pay for full-sized bottles of any nice/organic/all-natural hair care product at a regular store.

I love this place!! I come here about monthly for sustainably friendly home or self care goods including refillables such as soap and body lotion. The owner is fabulous and curates the store with some fantastic items. Even if I am going into the store for something specific, I always look around at all of the merchandise to see if there is something I didn’t know I needed or wanted.

Everyone who works at this store is always so lovely, attentive, and helpful. If you are in the neighborhood, a visit to this store is a must. It is so amazing to see to see all of the sustainably friendly products that are available to replace things we use in our lives in everyday.

It’s a pretty little refill store. I bought body wash and shampoo. I haven’t tried the shampoo yet, but I’m satisfied with the body wash. However, I paid much more than I expected before the visit. I brought a Meyer’s dish soap bottle and a Native body wash bottle, each of which I filled in the liquid soaps, and I paid $55 in total. I didn’t expect that since I thought shopping at a refill store would be more affordable choice. I should have seen the price tags more carefully.

A store where you can ask the owner anything, chat with friendly and knowledgeable zero waste experts, and get local products at a reasonable price. I get all my essentials here and finally have a place to refill anything I need. The owner, Em, has always gone above and beyond to accommodate to everyone that shops here and I am so grateful this store exists. Every time I give someone a gift from here I receive praise and I feel so grateful for being able to recycle those items that I have been trying to recycle for ages!

This little shop is so cute and really cool! The staff was very kind and the displays are very thoughtful. They have everything you can imagine for house and personal needs — all in a more sustainable version!

They even have bottles/bags to refill from other customers which is perfect if this is your first time coming to a reusable cafe.

The pricing is definitely less than expected for an “east village boutique” and I was pleasantly surprised that they had very affordable options!

Just by getting 1 reusable/less plastic waste based item here you are helping the earth. I recommend everyone check it out!

I love A Sustainable Village! I feel great about shopping there as sustainability is very important to me. The products are all high quality and great prices, too. The owner is also so sweet and helpful! Love love love this store!
